...about the Warsaw Book Fair
In Poland – and in particular in Warsaw – for many years spring has been a festival of books.
The 3rd Warsaw Book Fair will be held on 10–13 May 2012 (Thursday–Sunday) in the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw (PKiN). This is a deliberate reference to tradition – we consider it an inspiration, while aiming at a modern form of book promotion.
The date and location – May, the Palace of Culture and Science – are the only elements of the previous book fairs which will be kept. Everything else will have a modern, more attractive form, adjusted to the changing conditions on the book market.
The Warsaw Book Fair is a project of an event meeting the expectations of every one involvedin the process of creating, producing and distributing books – i.e. of authors, publishers, printers, booksellers, librarians, as well as of those who promote books and write about them, but, firstofall, of readers– an event closely connected with Warsaw; modern, colourful, multi-layered and focusing the attention of the public.
The Warsaw Book Fair will be first event of this kind with the form determined by publishers. Therefore it is likely to present a new quality – innovation, professionalism and adaptability to the changing requirements of the book market – already with the first edition and to become a permanent element of the calendar of important exhibition events of the Polish and European book market.
